United Way of Vermillion seeks nominations for volunteer award

United Way of Vermillion has established an annual Vermillion Volunteer of the Year Award that will be presented at the joint Vermillion Development Company and Vermillion Chamber of Commerce community banquet on Feb. 16.

Nominees are sought who exemplify the best traditions of volunteerism in America.

The honoree will have a sustained record of giving of time and other resources for the improvement of the community in a broad range of activities.

A committee of seven members representative of the city, the school district, the churches, the Chamber of Commerce, and other nonprofit organizations will be selected by the United Way of Vermillion board of directors to evaluate the nominations and to select the winner of the award.

No member of this committee will be eligible for nomination for the award.

All United Way member agencies, other nonprofit agencies, and the general public are encouraged to submit nominations for the Vermillion Volunteer of the Year Award.

The deadline for the 2006 nominations is Jan. 31. Completed nomination forms should be mailed to United Way of Vermillion, P.O. Box 216, Vermillion, SD 57069.
