Businesses and individuals having questions regarding South Dakota's sales, use and contractors' excise taxes will be finding the answers in a new location after the first of the year when the Yankton field office of the South Dakota Department of Revenue and Regulation relocates.
The field office is currently housed in the Kanner Building at 3113 North Spruce Street. It moves to its new location at 1900 Summit Street in Yankton the second week in January. The office will be closed Monday, Jan. 8 so staff and equipment can be moved but will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 9 for business as usual.
The office is staffed by seven employees, including a revenue supervisor, three auditors, two revenue agents, and support staff, and serves southeastern South Dakota, northeastern Nebraska, and northwestern Iowa. Visitors can receive assistance with filing and paying their state taxes, obtain publications and other resource materials, and get answers to their tax questions.
Although the address is changing, the field office phone number remains the same at 605-668-2939. The office will still be operating under normal hours, which are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
