The University of South Dakota is pleased to announce that it has named Sheila Gestring as its next director of budget and finance.
As director, Gestring develops, organizes and directs the U's internal budget processes; develops financial proposals and requests; and provides financial information to internal and external constituents. In addition, she ensures that the department complies with governmental and regental regulations and implements sound business practices.
Born and raised in nearby Springfield, Gestring arrives at the U with an extensive background in financial management. Prior to her work with the U, she served the state government in a variety of capacities, including positions with the South Dakota Board of Regents and the Department of Transportation. Most recently, Gestring worked in Kalispell, MT., where she served as chief financial officer for Flathead Community College for three years.
Gestring mentioned several recent developments that encouraged her to seek employment with the U. "I look forward to working with the new Enterprise Resource Planning system, and with the new strategic plan leading up to the 150-year anniversary, it's a very exciting time on campus," Gestring said.
