Vermillion boys’ varsity downed

The Vermillion Tanagers were topped by Sioux Falls Christian 60-50 in boys' basketball Jan. 18 at home.

The Tanagers jumped ahead 15-14 after the first quarter, the game was knotted 27-27 at halftime, and the Tanagers trailed 44-38 after the third period.

"I thought we played good basketball for three quarters," said Vermillion Coach Jason Huska. "Against good teams, you have to play well the whole game."

Vermillion saw its record fall to 1-2, while SF Christian upped its mark to 10-1.

Vermillion sank 5 of 22 three-point attempts and hit 3 of 7 free throw tries. The Tanagers hit 21 of 57 field goals, while SF Christian was 21 of 51 from the field. SF Christian sank 6 of 20 three-pointers and sank 8 of 11 free throw tries.

Vermillion was outrebounded 38-26.
