"What an unbelievable season, the thing that I am most pleased with is the relentless attitude that our kids approached the game with. We won several close games this year due to our poise in all kinds of situations and our kids refused to give up. Some games that really stand out are the opener against Harrisburg, we had to outscore them 21-8 in the fourth quarter to win a tough road game. Vs. Dell Rapids we were down 20-3 early in the second and had to work very hard to chip away at the lead to win another very difficult game on the road. At home we had vs. Dakota Valley we had to fight and claw our way to a 2OT win. Vs. Wagner with only two seconds on the clock we needed some big free throws to get the lead and seal the victory. And of course the Milbank game in the state tournament was unbelievable. When we took the time out at the end of the game our kids were so calm in the huddle it was almost unbelievable. And the hustle play to tip that ball and go the other way, it would have been pretty easy for our kids to pout and hang their heads after Alicia's drive was stopped but they continued to play until the end and made an incredible play.
What a storybook ending for Annie Roche, winning a state title, being named the Spirit of Su, being named to all-tourney team, and with the final made free-throw she broke the school scoring record by one point.
Set school record for wins in a season, third consecutive trip to state A tournament, Coach Parish set all time wins mark at VHS and the first state title in school history.
