Community garden holds work day and potluck

On Sunday, April 1 Vermillion residents will get together to start making their community garden planning into a reality. The community garden will be built on a lot owned by the Vermillion Area Arts Council behind the Washington Street Arts Center.

If you are interested in helping with construction of the community garden, please come to the Washington Street Arts Center at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 1. Please bring whatever gardening tools you have and snacks for the potluck, if you can.

The former parking lot is well on its way to becoming a community garden, with affordable plots for those interested in gardening. The garden will be a place to grow food, flowers and hold programs that are both educational and fun.

If you are interested in participating in the work day, or are just thinking about having a plot, please contact Rebecca Terk at organicpeas@hotmail.com, call her at 202-0252 or contact Alex Berke at alex.berke@usd.edu or call her at 677-6338.
