Foundation presents funding to Vermillion Area Arts Council
The Vermillion Area Community Foundation recently presented a grant of $2,350 to the Vermillion Area Arts Council to help them improve the classroom space located in the basement of the Washington Street Arts Center.

The building is an historic building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The arts center is in substantially solid condition but the basement area does need upgrading to allow the teaching of music classes.

The classroom space area needed to be enlarged, needed to have carpet installed, and needed an upgrade in the electrical service to include the installation of a suspended ceiling to accommodate improved lighting.

This grant will allow the Vermillion Area Arts Council to finish the project prior to classes commencing this spring.

The Vermillion Area Community Foundation provides opportunities for philanthropic investment in our community by offering assistance in areas of education, social, and economic development to improve the quality of life of area residents.

The growth and prosperity of the fund relies largely on the generosity of citizens and businesses. Gifts to the Vermillion Area Community Foundation can be sent to P.O. Box 342 in Vermillion, SD 57069. Contact any VACF board member for further information.

Board members are: Roger Kozak, Rollie French, Fern Kaufman, Lynne Day, Young Moore III, Evelyn Schlenker, Jeanette Hubert, Lisa Ketcham, Tom Schaack, Michael Granaas, and Allen Johnson.
