January’s students of the month named

The January Vermillion High School Students of the Month are Stephanie Taylor and Ryan Powell. They are seniors who have demonstrated leadership and achieved success throughout their high school careers. First Bank & Trust in Vermillion will provide a $100 scholarship for their future education.

Taylor "is dependable, helpful, and shows great leadership skills. Her bubbly personality lifts my spirits every day. I truly appreciate her outgoing demeanor," as related by her faculty recommendation. She plans to pursue a degree in elementary education.

Taylor's abundant activities include SADD, tennis, cheerleading, Student Council, volleyball, show choir, and various drama productions. Her parents are Tom and Joann Taylor.

Powell's endorsement indicated that he "has a great work ethic and an excellent attitude. He is willing to help anyone no matter how busy he is."

His plans are to major in engineering and technology.

He is a National Honor Society member and has been active in cross country, golf, track, band, tennis and basketball. Powell's parents are Bill and Linda Powell.
