Legionnaires from area counties to meet at convention in Wagner

Legionnaires from Bon Homme, Charles Mix, Clay, Douglas, Hutchinson and Yankton counties will gather Thursday, March 29, in Wagner for the annual District Seven Spring Convention of the South Dakota American Legion.

The Legion business session will start at 8 p.m. at the Wagner Legion Post Home.

The session will be preceded by a social hour at 6 p.m. and a banquet at 7 p.m. All Legion activities will be at the Legion Post Home.

Participants will elect district officers for two-year terms and county commanders and vice commanders in the district for one-year terms during the business meeting.

The session will also feature Post reports regarding the past year's unusual activities, Post Americanism reports, a membership turn-in, recognition of the District Seven Legionnaire of the Year and an address by State American Legion Commander Gunner Baatrup of Huron (member of the Virgil American Legion Post).

Outgoing District Seven Commander Gary Coleman of Wagner will conduct the Legion business session. Wagner Post Commander Greg Mathis will be in charge of local arrangements.

The District Seven Auxiliary will hold its convention meeting at 8 p.m. at the Wagner United Methodist Church, 406 1st St. SW, Wagner.
