Accident injures USD employees

Two employees of USD's Department of Public Safety were injured Friday morn-ing, April 13, in an accident in The University of South Dakota's swimming pool in the DakotaDome.

Matt Pruner, 23, a patrol officer, and Sgt. Sam Nelson, 25, were both taken to Sanford Health Care Center in Vermillion. Nelson, who suffered a fractured bone in his foot, was treated and released in Vermillion.

Pruner was transported to the Sanford USD Health Care Center in Sioux Falls. According to Phil Carter, manager of public relations at USD, Pruner is currently on a ventilator, and is undergoing tests to determine the full extent of his injuries.

The accident, Carter said, was not work related, and occurred while the Dome's pool was open on its regular schedule.
