Each will receive a $500 grant to assist with their college education for the 2007-08 academic year. This is the 15th year of the program for members of the water system.
Girard will graduate from Wakonda High School this spring. She is the daughter of Jane and Joe Girard of Wakonda. She plans to attend The University of South Dakota this fall and major in criminal justice and minor in sociology.

Manning is currently a freshman at South Dakota State University majoring in mass communications. She graduated from Beresford High School in 2006. She is the daughter of Pat and Tom Manning of rural Beresford.
The Clay Rural Water System is a member-owned, non-profit corporation headquartered east of Wakonda. Operational since 1979, the water system annually distributes over 160 million gallons of water to 1,900 farms, homes and businesses in parts of five counties in southeast South Dakota.
