March’s students of the month named

Molly Hammond and Brody Stone were selected as the Vermillion High School March Students of the Month. The two seniors were nominated by the faculty for their efforts in academics and extra-curricular activities. They will each receive a $100 scholarship from First Bank & Trust in Vermillion.

Hammond "is a very positive, energetic doer. She has a desire to succeed in everything she does," according to her faculty endorsement. She plans to attend The University of South Dakota with majors in theatre and business.

Her activities include marching band, drama club, science club, choir and National Honor Society. She received the Band Best of Class Award and has been the science club treasurer for two years. Her parents are Diana Baker and Calvin Hammond.

Stone's list of extra-curricular activities includes band, math club, choir, cross country, and debate. He attended Boys' State and has competed on the Quiz Bowl team. His parents are Russ and Kelly Stone.

His endorsement indicated that "he is responsible and leads others. Brody's positive attitude affects others and encourages others, especially underclassmen, to help out with activities." He plans to attend college majoring in special/secondary education.
