USD ended its regular season with an all-time mark of 16 wins in dual competition.
The Coyotes picked up wins at #1 doubles with Amanda Nicol and Maggie Peters and at #5 singles with Rachel Kludt.
At #1 doubles, Nicol, a junior from East London, South Africa, and Peters, a freshman from Des Moines, IA, defeated UND's top doubles team of Emily and Katie Callison by a score of 8-4. Nicol/Peters improved their overall doubles record to 12-5.
Kludt, a senior from Huron, defeated Mollie Mauer of UND in straight sets with a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Kludt, who improved her singles record to 13-7, trailed in the second set 4-3 but rallied to win the final three games of the set.
The difference in the match was UND's ability to win tie breakers. At #1 singles, UND's Emily Callison defeated Nicol, 6-0, 3-6, and 10-6 in the tiebreaker. Nicol dropped to 14-6 on the season. At #3 singles, USD's Amanda Barton dropped to 11-9 on the season when she lost to Lindsey Folkert by a 6-2, 2-6 and 4-10 score. Barton and Kludt also lost a closely contested #2 doubles match by a 9-7 score to Folkert and Emma Hustad of UND.
