Tanager girls’ golf team’s season preview and EPJ Invitational

First of all, the VHS Tanagers girls' golf team season preview of the 2007 season for Coach Kirk Hogen's charges will be featuring seniors Anna Isaacson and Chelsea Gauer who were letter winners last year. They are joined by several JV members. They include juniors Rachel Odens and Sara Bye, sophomore Kelsey Osborne, and freshman Laura Hansen and Kristen Schwasinger.

Also listed as members of the squad are the following eighth graders: Kinzie Huska, Lindsey Robinet, Krista Kuiper, Jessica Mortensen, and Ellen Brown.

"Keys to a successful season depends on the leadership of our state placers, Anna and Chelsea. Kelsey, Rachel, and Sara will be pushing for a varsity spot, and we will need some help from our underclassmen," Coach Hogen said.

The varsity was entered in the Elk Point-Jefferson Invitational on Thursday, March 29.

Team scores were: West Central – 411; EPJ – 412; Vermillion – 415; Dell Rapids – 420; Canton – 425; Dakota Valley – 449; Akron/Westfield – 506; Beresford – 553, and Harrisburg – 560.

Medalist was Abby Freehan of Dell Rapids (85).

Individual Tanager scores were: Anna Isaacson – 93, sixth place; Chelsea Gauer – 101, 10th place; Kristen Schwasinger – 107.

Kelsey Osborne and Rachel Odens both scored 114.
