University of South Dakota bests Minnesota-Crookston
The South Dakota women's tennis team upped its season record to 16-5 with a 9-0 nonconference win over Minnesota-Crookston on Friday morning at the Four Seasons Club in Sioux City, IA.

The Coyotes, who now have won five of six matches, won all six singles matches by straight set wins, losing a combined seven games. USD also won all three doubles matches and lost just three games in the three contests.

No. 2 – Maggie Peters (freshman, West Des Moines, IA, 10-4), USD, over Vanessa Houle, UMC, 6-0, 6-3.

No. 3 – Ashley Waltman (sophomore, Rapid City, 3-0), USD, over Jillian Morin, UMC, 6-2, 6-1.

No. 4 – Melanie Rockne (freshman, Yankton, 4-1), USD, def. Susan Turner, UMC, 6-0, 6-0.

No. 5 – Megan Arend (freshman, Sioux Falls, 4-0), over Holly Robinson, UMC, 6-0, 6-0.

No. 6 – Jessica Burchill (sophomore, Pierre, 1-0) def. Clare Neenan, UMC, 6-2, 6-0.


No. 1 – Nicol/Peters (10-4), USD, def. Noah/Houle, UMC, 8-1.

No. 2 – Waltman/Rockne (2-0), USD, def. Morin/Turner, UMC, 8-2.
