University of South Dakota hosts annual Student History Conference
Graduate and undergraduate students from regional universities and colleges will present papers at the 42nd Annual Student History Conference, Thursday, April 26, at The University of South Dakota. The conference kicks off at the Newman Center at 9 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The conference is sponsored by USD's Department of History and the Zeta Mu Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, a national honor society in history. The 2007 academic year marks the 50th anniversary of the local chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.�

Thomas Alexander, president of the society, will attend the conference in order to mark the occasion. The conference represents an opportunity for students to participate in an academic gathering similar to a professional conference.

Clayton Lehmann, professor of history, said, "This is a great opportunity for students from around the region to share their work and talk about history."
