The celebration will be at the old ice rink on the corner of Pine Street and Cherry Street, across from Burger King, and will include an Earth Day Fun Run, a barbecue and live entertainment.
Cost to pre-register for the Fun Run is $12 before April 22 and $15 the day of the event. All registered participants will receive a free T-shirt and can choose to walk, run or bike the 5K route. The Fun Run, which is open to all age groups, will begin and end at the old ice rink.
In addition to the 5K event, there will be live music featuring local musicians Golden Bubble, the Brickhouse Boys and Crystal Gorden, and a barbecue, which is scheduled to follow the Fun Run. Other entertainment includes the Heart and Soul dancers, face painting, a kids' carnival and Amnesty International.
All proceeds from the Earth Day event will be donated to the South Dakota Wildlife Federation to help the South Dakota Wildlife Federation Conservation Camp. Their mission is to represent the interests of all South Dakotans in wildlife, outdoor recreation, natural resources and quality environment.
