USD track and field squads take away seven titles
Led by the record-setting performance of Jasmine Mosley, the South Dakota track and field squads won seven titles during the Sioux City Relays.

Mosley, a freshman from Bellevue, NE., won the shot put with a toss of 49'03.0, which is an NCAA Division II provisional mark and the best throw in DII this spring. Mosley's throw was just under the DII's automatic qualifying mark of 50'0. Mosley set a school record with the throw, breaking the 1991 mark of 46'11.5 by Chris Johnson.

The Coyote women's team won both the 4×100-meter relay in 49.61 and the 4×200-meter relay in 1:43.06 at the relays. The Coyotes were third in the 1,600-meter sprint medley in 4:20.14.

The South Dakota women's team dominated the triple jump by capturing the top five places. Natalie Stout (Crofton, NE) won the competition at 36'10. Betsy Lubbers (Watertown) was second at 36'04.50 followed by Tia Haines (White Lake), third, 35'07.25; Carrie Gonsor (Pierre), fourth, 35'05 and Stacy Gould (Sioux Falls), fifth, 35'04.25.

Megan Kahler (Dakota Dunes) won the women's pole vault by going 11'06 which was just off the NCAA DII provisional mark of 11'07.25. Two others Coyotes also placed in the top-five of the pole vault, including Katie Cerling (Plymouth, MN), fourth, 11'0; and Kaci Nickerson (Cambridge, NE), fifth, 10'06.

Heather Kuhlmann (Nebraska City, NE) won the 10,000-meter run in 40'39.11.

The Coyote women's team had several second-place finishes, including Amanda Wollman (LeMars, IA), who had a high jump of 5'04.50. Gonsor was fifth in the high jump at 5'02 with Amber Schmidt (Hartford), sixth, 5'02.

In the women's hammer throw, Amy Velthoff (Panama, IA) was second with a throw of 155'10. Mosley was fourth in the event with a toss of 140'11 with Danielle Dornbusch (Papillion, NE), fifth, at 140'01. Velthoff also finished fourth in the discus throw at 133'03.

Lexie Dunlop (Woodbine, IA) claimed second in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:45.26.

Rosalie Brueske (Woonsocket) was third in the 400-meter dash in 58.64.

In the 100-meter dash, Lauren Krell (Hartford) was fourth in 12.58 with Jenessa Filler (Crooks), sixth in 12.79.

The South Dakota men's team earned a first-place finish in the distance medley relay in 10:41.48.

Rob Gregoire (Wakonda, S.D.) was second in the 1,500-meter run in 4:06.62.

Ben Walters (Lennox) placed in three throwing events, including taking second in the shot put in 50'08.5. He was fifth in the discus throw at 148'04 and fifth in the hammer throw at 161'02. Also in the hammer throw, Preston Scott (Parker) was fourth with a throw of 166'08. Jake Wilkinson (North Platte, NE) was eighth in the discus at 139'07.

Also for the men's team, Jeff Seagren (Wausa, Neb.) was fifth in the high jump at 6'0.

USD had two placers in the pole vault with Tane Owens (Pierre) claiming fifth at 14'06 and Tim Rust (Luverne, MN) finishing seventh at 14'0.

In addition, Alex Leloux (Parker) was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 51.16.
