Hy-Vee proudly announces the selection of Ron Avery as the new store director of the Vermillion Hy-Vee. Avery is a 16-year Hy-Vee veteran and will be taking on his first store director assignment. He is currently manager, perishables at the Waterloo, IA, #3 Hy-Vee.

Avery began his Hy-Vee career as a part-time night stocker at the Dubuque, IA, #1 store in 1991. He went full-time later that year, became night stock manager in 1992 and was promoted to assistant shift manager a year later. In 1993 Avery moved to Davenport, IA, #2 as a shift manager.

He transferred to his current location, Waterloo #3, as assistant food store manager and was promoted to food store manager in 1996. Avery was named manager, store operations in 1999 and was named assistant store director in 2001. He received his current manager, perishables assignment at Waterloo #3 in 2004.

Avery is a native of the Dubuque area. He graduated from Dubuque Wahlert High School and furthered his education at Northeast Iowa Community College and Loras College. He is the proud father of three boys – Tyler (16), Brandon (13) and Cody (5 months). Of course spending time with his sons is Avery's priority when not at work. Other favorite pastimes include biking, golfing, skiing and bowling.

The numerous responsibilities Avery has held during his 16-year career will serve him well as he takes on his first store director assignment. He is very much looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that await him.

"It's so great to work for a company that allows you the opportunity to reach for your dreams. I cannot adequately express my thanks to all the wonderful people at Waterloo #3. They will truly be missed. I am really looking forward to meeting and becoming part of the Vermillion family," he said.

Hy-Vee is very confident in Avery's abilities and expects to see very positive results in the months to come.
