Bak selected to play at NCAA D-II Northwest/West Regionals
The University of South Dakota junior men's golfer Ryan Bak (Beresford) has been selected to play in the upcoming NCAA Division II Northwest/West Super Regional Tournament as an individual participant. The super regional will be held on Monday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 9, at Fox Hollow Golf Club in Denver, CO.

Bak is one of five individuals selected to play in the Northwest Region field, joining Augustana's Brett Benson and Aaron Heib, Mark Vallee of Colorado School of Mines and Nate Blanscet of Colorado Christian. Eight teams comprise the field of the Northwest Region, which consists of Colorado-Colorado Springs, Western New Mexico, Colorado State-Pueblo, St. Cloud State, Minnesota State, Fort Lewis, Regis and Nebraska-Kearney.

The top team from each region within the super regional and the top individual not with a team from each super regional (regardless of region) will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships to be held at The Meadows in Allendale, MI, on May 22 through 25.

A 2005 All-North Central Conference Second Team selection, Bak was the top Coyote finisher in four out of five events this spring, including earning Medalist honors twice this season. He recorded a USD-best stroke average of 73.9 this spring which was dramatically lower than his 77.4 average this fall. Of Bak's nine rounds this spring, none were higher than a 76.

This will be Bak's second consecutive trip to regional competition. Last year, Bak finished in a tie for 20th by carding a 78-73-78 – 229 (+16) at the Par 71 Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix, AZ.
