Foundation’s grant will help Healing Garden

The Vermillion Area Community Foundation recently presented a grant of $5,000 to the Dakota Hospital Foundation to help with funding for the Healing Garden project. The healing garden will provide a new approach to the physical treatment of a patient; the psycho-social benefits of horticultural therapy will present tremendous opportunities for all areas within the health care organization.

The healing garden will be situated in a well-designed, secure area between the hospital, clinic and nursing home. Access to this natural and quiet space will be available to patients, residents, visitors, and staff.

This grant helped the Dakota Hospital Foundation reach its funding goal for this project prior to the ground breaking ceremony which was held in early May.

The Vermillion Area Community Foundation provides opportunities for philanthropic investment in our community by offering assistance in areas of education, social, and economic development to improve the quality of life of residents in our area.
