The University of South Dakota sophomore Tagney Jones (Lincoln, NE) has been selected to the 2007 Daktronics All-North Central Region Softball First Team as a first baseman. This is the third accolade awarded to Jones this year, as she has already been named to the All-North Central Conference and Academic All-NCC teams. This is also the second consecutive year Jones has been named to an all-region squad, as last year she earned Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-North Central Region second team honors.
Jones is 83rd in NCAA Division II and third in the NCC in batting average with her lofty .410 mark. In other NCC rankings, she leads the circuit in total bases (120), is second in both RBIs (48) and on-base percentage (.459), tied for second in doubles (16), third in hits (77), tied for third in triples (3), fourth in slugging percentage (.638) and tied for seventh in home runs (7).
Jones also saw plenty of action at pitcher for the Coyotes this season, as she tied for the league lead in appearances (38), was second in games started (30), third in innings pitched (190-1/3), fourth in strikeouts (129) and eighth in complete games (16). Overall this season, she carried a 6-24 record with a 4.27 ERA.
