Tanager girls finish second at state meet
The Tanager boys' and girls' track teams were in Lennox on Friday and Sioux Falls on Saturday, May 25 and 26, participating in the SDHSAA State Tournament. In the 20 qualifying schools, Class A division, the girls placed second (44 points), behind St. Thomas More (76).

Alicia Brown won the 200M dash (25.38) and had a 58.44-second time in winning the 400M dash.

She also anchored the 4x200M relay team to a second-place finish with a time

1:47.92, and the 4x400M relay team's third-place time, 4:12.91. The other runners in both relays teams were Sarah Day, Alexa Walker and Annie Roche. The sprint medley team placed sixth (4:41.45), with members Annie Roche, Karissa Martin, Alexa Walker and Sarah Day.

Lydia Ford placed fourth (12:04.12) in the 3200M run.

The Tanagers placed 16th in the boys' section. Individual events results for Vermillion were Bobby Dykstra – third in the high jump (6'6"); and Jeff Donnelly – sixth in the 110M hurdles (15.98).

The relay teams placed fifth in both the sprint medley and 4x400M. Jerod Freidel, Dan Storm, Ryan Powell and Broc Gauer ran in the 4×400; and Freidel, Donnelly, Gauer and Powell participated in the medley.

The Tanager girls qualifiers for the State Meet were Brandi Blue Arm, Alicia Brown, Sarah Day, Lydia Ford, Hannah Korkuska, Kayla Munger, Hannah and Sophie Nehlich-Arobba, Emily Renner, Annie Roche and Alexa Walker.

Tanager Boys State qualifiers were: Greg anderson, Casey Carlson, Jeff Donnelly, Bobby Dykstra, Preston Ellenbolt, Jerrod Freidel, Broc Gauer, A.J. Manning, Michael Oberle, Roland Osao-Oppango, Ryan Powell and Dan Storm.
