The Tanager girls' golf team placed second in the "Big Eight" conference tournament last Monday, May 7 vs Lennox, Madison, and West Central, played in Lennox.
The WCHS girls placed first with a 347 score; Vermillion took second with 385, Madison was third 392, Lennox placed fourth with a 506 in the varsity phase of the tourney.
Capturing medalist honors was the Trojan's Cara Liesinger with a 79, three strokes better than Kelly Wilkens of Madison. Kelli Lowry (WC) was third and Vermillion's Anna Issacson was fourth at 86. Other Tanager scoring results were Kelsey Osborne – 99; Rachel Odens – 99; Chelsea Gauer� 101; and Kenzie Huska – 105.
The JV tournament matches involved all four conference teams but only Vermillion and Lennox fielded a complete roster. The Tanagers scored 414 to win the meet. Lennox scored 519. VHS JV individual places were: Jessica Mortensn – 98 (first), Emily VanDenHul and Ellen Brown – 106, each; Krista Kuiper – 107; and Lindsey Robinet – 130.
