USD golfer tied for 18th after first round at NCAA Regionals

The University of South Dakota senior women's golfer Amanda Young (Mitchell) stands in a tie for 18th place after the first of three days of competition at the NCAA Division II North Regional Tournament. Young shot a 12-over-par 84 at the Sunnyside Country Club, and stands 11 shots back of day one individual leader Rachael Schmidt of upper Iowa.

The top two teams along with the top two remaining individuals from this regional will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships to be held May 9-12 in Pensacola, FL.

Young is the only Coyote women's golfer competing in the 2007 NCAA Division II North Regional Tournament. This is Young's second consecutive trip to regionals. Last year, she finished in a tie for 18th place with her rounds of 83-80-88 – 251.
