USD students selected for U. Discover research program
The University of South Dakota Undergraduate Research Council announced that 10 undergraduate students have been selected for its prestigious U. Discover Summer Research program. This program sponsors undergraduate students from USD to conduct summer research projects with faculty mentors.

The 2007 U. Discover scholars are Jamie Bender and Shelly Brandsrud of Watertown; Megan Determan of Emery; Ericka Grey from Grant, MI; Evelyn Johnson and April Jungwirth of Redfield; Drew Price of Omaha, NE; Ronovan Ottenbacher from Selby; and Anne Rosenbaum and Andrea Tjemeland of Blair, NE.

Once the summer program is completed, these students will report their findings in papers written to professional standards and apply to present their research at regional and national venues, including a poster session at the South Dakota Capitol in Pierre; IdeaFest at USD; and at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research at Salisbury University in Maryland.

U. Discover, coordinated by the Undergraduate Research Council, is open to students conducting research in any discipline and is funded by the USD Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. The program, which runs May 29 through Aug. 3, is committed to promoting undergraduate research and creative scholarship at USD.
