Columnist receives award

Vermillion Plain Talk columnist Paula Damon placed second in the 2007 South Dakota Press Women State Competition. Winning entries from Damon's weekly column, "My Story Your Story," are titled "Strangely ordinary event stirs writer" and "Some endings are arrivals at pleasant places, others are not."

A resident of Southeast South Dakota, Damon's column's have won first place in National Federation of Press Women and Iowa Press Women competitions. A graduate of The University of South Dakota, Damon has a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications ('91) and a master's degree in English ('93).
