USD Playhouse presents musical tribute to Sinatra
The University of South Dakota Playhouse is pleased to present My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra June 22 and 23 at 7:30 p.m. and June 24 at 2 p.m. in the Wayne S. Knutson Theatre in the Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts.

Last year, in its inaugural season, the USD Playhouse presented the sentimental musical comedy Forever Plaid. The Playhouse continues its focus on nostalgia with this season's stunning new musical revue created by David Grapes and Todd Olson. My Way includes over 50 musical numbers and features some of the best popular music from the last 60 years, including Fly Me to the Moon, Summer Wind, I've Got the World on a String and That's Life, to name a few.

My Way seeks to capture the atmosphere of a Frank Sinatra performance set in a nightclub at the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas. The cast of four includes students at USD who are specializing in musical theatre performance: Elliott Graber from Freeman, Kevin Kelly from Aberdeen, Lindsey Straw from Ralston, NE, and Krysta Dziak from Helena, MT. The scenic design is by Aaron Laudermith, a graduate student from Huron, while guest artist Charles Houghton, chair of theatre at University of West Florida, designs the lighting, and Steven Buechler, an undergraduate student in art from Centerville, designs costumes. Accompaniment is provided by Nanette Hofer from Sioux Falls.

Bruce Earnest, associate professor of theatre at USD and artistic director of the USD Playhouse, is both stage and music director for My Way. Mr. Earnest has performed extensively in both musical theatre and opera and was voice consultant to the European productions of Aida, Titanic, Mama Mia and The Phantom of the Opera. As a performer he has appeared with the Munich State Theatre, State Theatre Passau, Vienna Folks Opera, Orlando Opera, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Walt Disney World. As a director/music director of musical theatre, his credits include Side by Side by Sondheim, Big River, Little Shop of Horrors, Tin Types, Into the Woods, Oklahoma, Camelot, and others.

Tickets to My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra are $14 for adults and $8 for youth (18 and under). Walk up sales begin June 18 with box office hours from noon to 5 p.m. daily. Reservations can be made by calling the University Theatre box office at 605-677-5400.

My Way will also perform at the Orpheum Theater in Sioux Falls, June 29-July 1, at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse in Madison, July 6 and 7, and in Custer State Park at the Black Hills Playhouse, July 12-22. For more information, contact Eric Hagen at 605-677-5732 or ehagen@usd.edu.
