Vermillion came out strong against Lyons, NE in the second game. Vermillion scored 12 runs in four innings while shutting out Lyons. Vermillion allowed only three Lyons batters to reach base as they ended the game by the run rule after four innings.
Wisner-Pilger-Bemmer, NE and Vermillion squared off in game three with the winner advancing to the championship game. Vermillion exploded in the top of the first with 9 runs on 4 walks, 4 singles and 3 doubles. WPB came back with 6 runs of its own in the bottom of the second and after that the teams battled back and forth with Vermillion holding on for a 13-9 win.

In the championship game Vermillion defeated Arlington, NE by a score of 7-5. Vermillion jumped out early again scoring 4 in the first and 3 in the second to take a 7-1 lead after two. That would be all of the scoring the team would need as the team came up with key defensive plays to hold Arlington at bay.
Vermillion's record improves to 6-2 on the year. Vermillion travels to Sioux Falls Central on Thursday and will host Brookings on Saturday with game times set for 2 and 4 p.m. Vermillion is hosting a tournament on June 22, 23 and 24 at Prentis Park. Teams participating are South Sioux City, NE, Hartington, NE, Beresford, Missouri Valley, IA, Elk Point-Jefferson and Vermillion. The Friday night game to open the tourney will be at 7 p.m. with Vermillion playing EPJ. Games are scheduled to start at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
