South Dakota Health Care Association is in search of the 2007 Centenarian of the Year. In order to qualify for this honorable recognition, your birth date must be before July 18, 1897! Yes, you read the date correctly. You must be at least 110 years old to be considered to earn this recognition.
According to Century Club records, Florence Johnson of Aberdeen, born July 18, 1897, is currently the eldest living South Dakotan. Florence, who is a resident at HCR ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen, is looking forward to celebrating her 110th birthday.
The Century Club is open to everyone in the state of South Dakota upon reaching his or her 100th birthday. There are no dues and every inductee receives a specially designed, framed certificate and membership card. The Century Club has inducted 820 members since it began in 1997. A specially designed, framed certificate will be presented to the current eldest living Century Club member recognizing him or her as the "Centenarian of the Year."
