Cornerstone Church, located at 514 North Crawford Rd., is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Special services are planned on Saturday, July 28 at Prentis Park and Sunday, July 29 at the Knutson Theater. Everyone is invited to join in the festivities.
Kids and parents communitywide are welcomed to Family Fun Night at the Prentis Park band shell, Saturday, July 28. Music, games, ministry, puppets, juggling and more will begin at 7 p.m. Free ice cream will be provided by Schwan's Ice Cream and Jupiter Jump fun (bouncing room) for the kids. Bus pickups at various locations around town will be posted in the Cornerstone Church lobby or call 624-8809.
Celebration Sunday Service will be held at the Knutson Theater in the Fine Arts Building on the USD campus at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited to join the Cornerstone Church congregation for a special presentation of music and ministry celebrating 10 years of the goodness of God. A complimentary tailgate lunch featuring Indian tacos will be provided for everyone following the service.
Cornerstone Church opened its doors at the Crawford Road location in July of 1997. Devon Davoux has been the senior pastor for more than four years. His wife Jennifer and their two boys, Austin and Cameron, moved to Vermillion from Kansas City, MO. Sierra, their daughter, was born in March 2005. Pastor Devon has a degree in pastoral studies from North Central University in Minneapolis, MN, and a BA in elementary education from Augustana University in Sioux Falls. Regular Sunday service times are 9 a.m., Sunday School, and 10 a.m., worship.
