FFA students promote soy biodiesel

With high fuel prices on the minds of many individuals this summer, Vermillion area diesel users picked up an instant $30 in savings as part of a soy biodiesel promotion by the South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (SDSRPC) held at the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop on July 11.

Centerville FFA students helped at the promotion by filling up diesel vehicles as customers topped off their tanks with soy biodiesel. The line kept moving quickly with the help of Juston Knutson, chapter vice president; Tim Norling, chapter secretary; Brett Holmberg, chapter treasurer; Jeremy Nelson, chapter student advisor; chapter members Joey Lovejoy and Misty Lovejoy; and chapter advisor Kelly Dunkelberger.

The promotional event highlighted the importance and benefits of using soy biodiesel, derived from soybean oil, as an alternative to imported foreign oil.
