Legion Post #1 experiences wins, loses
After completing the Lewis & Clark Classic, Post #1 had games on June 13, 16, and 19 and this report will cover those game results.

On June 13, Vermillion played a double header against Chadron, NE at Prentis Park. Chadron won the first game 11-0. Zach Weiss was the losing pitcher giving up 12 hits, 3 hit batters, and 5 walks, as the team committed 3 errors.

Line Totals: Post # 1 � 0 R, 6 H, 3 E, 7 LOB; Chadron � 11 R, 12 H, 1 E, 4 LOB.


Vermillion hits were: 2 for Reid Meierkort, 1 each for Weiss, Cory Taggart, Eric McPherson and JR Moore.

The second game was a come from behind, 9-3 win for Post #1. JR Moore started and gave up 3 runs in 4 innings giving up only 2 hits, but 8 walks, while striking out 5 batters. Jeff Donnelly relieved and gave up 1 hit, recording 3Ks, and the winning pitcher since Vermillion was trailing 3-2 when he took over.

Offensive stats: Weiss � 2 runs; Taggart � 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 RBI Meirkort � 2 for 3, 3 runs, 3 RBIs; Kyle Olsen � 1 for 2, 1 run, 3 RBIs; McPherson 1 for 3; Ryan Gilbertson � 2 runs.

Line totals: Vermillion � 9 R, 6 H, 0 E, 6 LOB; Chadron � 3 R, 3 H, 1 E, 5 LOB.

Season record: 3-5.

On June 16,Post # 1 faced Winner in Elk Point, where Brandon Womack went five innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits and 3 BBs, striking out 2. Kyle Olsen relieved and was the losing pitcher in the two inning stint, giving up 2 hits, 5 walks. His team mates had 2 errors.

Line Totals: Winner � 9 R, 8 H, 2 E, 6 LOB; Vermillion � 3 R, 9 H, 2 E, 12 LOB.

Offense: Weiss � 2 for 4; Womack � 1 for 4; Taggart � 1 for 3, 1 run; Meierkort � 2 for 4, 1 run ; McPherson � 1 for 4, 1 run; Olsen � 2 for 4.

Season record: 3-6.

Lennox was the next victim for Post #1 as they rang up 17 runs in a 17-4 laffer played at Prentis Park in Vermillion on June 19.

Weiss was the wining pitcher, giving up 5 hits and 6 walks, while recording 5 Ks.

8 RBIs; Olsen � 2 for 5, 1 RBI; Donnelly � 2 for 4, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Taggart � 2 for 3, 4 runs, 1 RBI; McPherson � 2 runs, 2 RBIs; Moore � 1 for 3, 1 run, 2 RBIs; Ryan Husby � 1 for 4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs.

Season record: 4-6.
