Two blood drives scheduled to boost summer blood supply

Community Blood Bank's bloodmobile will be holding two blood drives in Vermilion on Thursday, July 26. The first blood drive will be held at First Dakota National Bank, 111 Court St., from 9-11:30 a.m. The second blood drive will be held at Sanford Vermillion hospital from 1-3:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to donate blood at either of the blood drive to benefit the local blood supply. All blood types are in immediate need.

During the summer months the local blood supply is challenged due to an increase usage of blood and lower than normal donations. The only way to insure an adequate local blood supply is through volunteers who donate with Community Blood Bank. One donation will save up to three people's lives. it only takes 20 to 25 minutes to make the difference.

Community Blood Bank is the sole provider of blood and blood products to Sanford Vermillion Hospital and 28 other local hospitals. The blood that is donated with Community Blood Bank stays within the area for local patients. Please support your local blood supply.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health the day of donation. Please bring an I.D. with you. For an appointment or more information, please call 624-2611. Walk-ins are welcome.
