Vermillion Stingers split a pair with Dakota Fury on July 5

Vermillion's Stingers went 1-1 against Dakota Fury in league play in Valley Springs on July 5.

Game #1 was a 7-1 loss, as Chelsea Houska had a bad inning where she gave up 7 walks leading to 7 runs. Except for the lapse of control, she gave up only 1 hit and recorded 2 Ks in the five inning stint.

The offense consisted of Jenny Bye – 1 run; Britt Bye – 1 for 2; and Ali Truhe – 1 for 2, 1 RBI.

Line score: Stingers – 1 R, 2 H, 1 E, 5 LOB; Fury – 7 R, 1 H, 3 E, 1 LOB.

In the second game the Stingers scored an 8-6 victory. Brittany Bey started and got through the first inning before being plagued by the base-on-ball syndrome. Chelsea Houska took over and was able to hold the opponents to 1 run through the rest of the game.
