Brand-new season for VHS boys’ soccer team

Brand-new season for VHS boys' soccer team
It's a brand-new season for VHS's boys' soccer – in fact, it's their first fall season. The proud team is comprised of 24 members from Vermillion and Elk Point. Although the team played during the spring, they were doing so under recreational soccer. It is time to see how apt the boys are when they compete this season (officially) for a chance at State.

Returning to coach the boys is Carlos Telleria, aided by Leroy Meyer. "Coach," as the boys call him, is looking forward to the season. The boys, of course, are, too.

Yes, the team started with a loss on Aug. 17 to Saint Thomas More with the final score being 0-4. However, they more than made up for it the following day, Aug. 18, with an amazing 9-0 to Douglas.

More recently, the boys traveled to the Black Hills on Aug. 24 and 25. The first game against Hot Springs led to a loss of 0-3. Saturday's game was a sad occasion with a score of 1-6 against Custer.

Upcoming games include confrontations against Freeman and Groton at home. Luck goes out to "Coach" and his 24 golden boys.
