Tanagers defeat Tri-Valley in doubleheader season opener

The Vermillion junior varsity softball team played their season opener Aug. 26 with a doubleheader against Tri-Valley.

In game one, the Tanagers beat the junior varsity Tri-Valley Mustangs 10-6 in six innings. Lizzy Bye had seven strikeouts and one walk in the win for Vermillion. Beth Szymonski and Sami Girard were both 3-3 with two RBIs.

In their second game, the Tanagers beat Tri-Valley 11-1 in five innings with Bye playing another stellar game. Bye had seven strikeouts and one walk, going 2-3 with two RBIs at the plate. Claire Jones was 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Five Tanagers had at least one RBI.
