The USD tennis team is just one of 43 NCAA Division II schools to receive the honor, which requires a combined grade point average of 3.2 or better. In addition, two USD student-athletes were selected to the ITA All-Academic squad.
The honored student-athletes included senior Michelle Hogan, Rapid City, and sophomore Amanda Barton of Aberdeen. Barton earned her second academic award from the ITA, while Hogan was honored for the third consecutive season. Student-athletes with a 3.5 grade point average or better were named to the ITA academic honor squad.

"I am very honored to be working with such a great group of student-athletes," said fourth-year women's tennis coach Malcolm Gilreath. "They work hard both off and on the court. It is wonderful that they are recognized for their efforts," said Gilreath.
The South Dakota women's tennis team finished with a school-record 16-9 mark and sixth place in the North Central Conference Tournament in 2007.
