Ann Opsahl, a junior goal keeper at The University of South Dakota, has been named the North Central Conference Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office.
Opsahl (Yankton) led the South Dakota soccer team (2-0) to consecutive shutouts to open the 2007 season. Opsahl was in goal for 74:14 in a 4-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State on Aug. 24. She recorded three saves against Southwest Minnesota State.
In a 2-0 win over Concordia (St. Paul) on Aug. 26 at the USD soccer field, Opsahl had two saves in 90 minutes of action.
