- Eighteenth Annual Oscar Howe Memorial Lecture Set – Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at Farber Hall in Old Main on the USD campus. The university will host author and professor of art history Bill Anthes, Ph.D., a noted scholar who writes on contemporary Native American art and culture.
He's recently released a book on Native American Modernists, published by Duke University Press, which prominently features the role of Oscar Howe in the generation that came to imminence between 1940 and 1960. - National Music Museum's Brown Bag Lunch Program – Friday, Sept. 21 from 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. at 414 E. Clark Street, featuring Jack Norton and the Mullet River Boys from Minneapolis. - Minnesota Renaissance Festival Trip – Classic Hits 106.3 KVHT-FM and the Newman Center are co-sponsoring the annual journey to Shakopee, MN for the area's largest and oldest Renaissance Festival. The carpool will leave Newman Center at 5 p.m. and stay overnight in the St. Peter Church.
They will attend the festival on Saturday, and will return to Vermillion around 1 p.m. on Sunday. There is a $25 fee due the day of departure.
