According to Turner County Sheriff Byron Nogelmeier, Kermit Holm apparently stumbled while taking a walk outdoors on the farm.
"The elderly gentleman fell on a rod, and it went through his neck," the sheriff said.

The man's death, according to Nogelmeier's report, was caused by injuries to his neck.
Holm wasn't transported to a hospital. "It's my understanding that he died at the scene," the sheriff said.
Personnel from the Turner County sheriff's office visited the scene after being called at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday, and determined, after a brief investigation, that no foul play was involved.
Nogelmeier said he assumes Holm was found by a family member following the accident.
