Items to bring to the fair to apply for a passport are:
- Certified birth certificate which has the raised seal or naturalization papers (photocopies cannot be accepted, nor is a hospital-issued birth certificate considered a certified birth certificate).
- Driver's license or state ID.
- Completed unsigned passport application (available at www.travel.state.gov or the post office prior to or during the fair).
The cost for a passport is $52 for ages up to 15 and $67 for ages 16 and up. There is a $15 fee for passport photos. USPS fees are $30 (depends on new issuance or renewal).
Children under 14 must be accompanied by both parents or have a notarized form completed. Children 14 to 18 years old must be accompanied by one parent.
For an additional charge, expedited passport service is available.
Passport applicants can expect their passport in 10 to 12 weeks. Requests can be made for the Department of State to expedite passports applications for an additional $60, plus postage of $16.25 each way.
