For the second straight year, USD has recorded shutouts in its first two matches of the season. A year ago, USD tied Winona State (0-0) and defeated Concordia (in St. Paul, MN) by a 1-0 score in double overtime. In 2007, the Coyotes have recorded a 4-0 road win over Southwest Minnesota State (Aug. 24) and a 2-0 home win over Concordia.
The Coyotes jumped on the scoreboard early against Concordia as junior Sarah Halbach (St. Paul, MN) scored at the 5:00 mark of the first half off an assist from senior Katie Freeman (Urbandale, IA. USD added a second-half goal when freshman Katie Quinones (Rochester, MN) scored her first career goal off an assist from freshman Taylor Gray (Des Moines, IA).

USD goal keeper Ann Opsahl (Yankton) recorded her second straight shutout. She had two saves in 90 minutes of action. Keyton Wheelock of Concordia had four saves and allowed two goals in 90 minutes of work.
South Dakota outshot Concordia, 12-7, including 7-4 in the second half. Both teams had three corner kicks.
