Tanager golfers are Region 3A champions

A sudden downpour with lots of thunder greeted the Region 2A participants at The Bridges golf course in Beresford on Monday, Sept. 24. The two-hour delay for starting was accompanied by intermittent showers most of the day.

Despite less than ideal conditions, the Vermillion Tanagers won the regional in fine fashion with a 324 score. SF Christian was second, Harrisburg placed third, followed by the Canton team, which finished fourth.

Rainey Reynolds (SFC) was medalist (73) and Nolan Meyer was second (74).

For Vermillion – Alex Schaack was third (76), Jordan Boots – fourth (78), Aaron Steele – 11th (84), and Broc Gauer – 13th (86).

Also participating, but not in the top 25 – Mikal Ustad (94).

The state Class 11A tourney will be held at the Pine Hills Country Club in Milbank Oct. 1 and 2.
