VHS CC teams compete at Collignon Invite

The John Collignon Invitational Cross Country meet was held last Friday, Aug. 24 involving both the boys' and girls' varsity and junior varsity divisions. No team scores were compiled.

Girls' varsity results were: Lydia Ford ��eighth – 17:34.7; and Blair Gilkyson – ninth – 17:36.08.

Also running for Vermillon were: Sophie Nehlich-Arobba(36), Jana Bye(39), Hannah Nehlich-Arobba(41), Emily Renner(42) and Celeste Sawyers(43).

Boys' varsity results: Casey Carlson ��29th – 17:49.39, Broc Gauer ��34th – 18:07.98.

Also D.J Donahoe(58), and John Wise(64).

JV combined division: Alex Card 43rd – 7:49.06, Steffani Donahoe 23rd – 22:53.99 and Nick Britten 74th.

In a middle school relay, Vermillion placed second(12:59). Team members were: Cassie Donahoe, Matthew Moore, Christian Davis and Beth Szymonski.

"This was a good first meet for us and it gives us a little better idea of where we're at. The field was very tough with three Class AA schools there," said coach Kelly Fishbach. "Sioux Falls Lincoln brought a large and talented squad. Our next action is Sept 8, at the USD Invite for varsity only, in Vermillion."
