VHS softball twice tops Tea Titans team

The Vermillion Tanagers' softball team entertained the Tea Area Titans at the USD softball complex in Vermillion on Sunday, Sept. 9 in a double header competition. The scores were 7-0, and 11-1.

In the first game, Jenny Bye pitched another no hitter, striking out nine batters in seven innings. She also went 2 for 3 at bats. Ashley Ouellette was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI; Donica Chrichton was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Alicia Brown was 2 for 3, 1 run, 1 RBI; and Molly LeCates was 1 for 2, 1 run.

In the second game, Brianna Brinkman struck out four batters in five innings by rule in the second game. Bye went 3 for 3 with 2 runs; Ouellette was 2 for 3, 2 runs, 1 RBI; Brown was 3 for 3 with a double, 1 run, 1 RBI; and LeCates was 1 for 1, with 1 run and 1 RBI.

Coach Lori Jerred was very pleased with the Tanagers performance.

"Both pitchers did a fantastic job today, With our 4-0 record, we will play Canton at the USD complex on Sunday, Sept. 16 at 12 and 1:30 p.m. This will be our last home game. Come out and support the Tanager softball team!" she said.
