4-H trip applications due Nov. 19

South Dakota 4-H youths, ages 16-19 as of Jan. 1, 2008, may apply now for participation in one of two national 4-H trips in 2008. Applications are taken through Nov. 19 at local county Extension offices.

The trips include the 78th National 4-H Conference, taking place Mar. 29 through April 3 in Chevy Chase, MD, and the 87th National 4-H Congress, Nov. 28 through Dec. 2 in Atlanta, GA.

Delegates selected will receive one trip in a given year to represent South Dakota 4-H. Delegates may apply for additional trips in subsequent years.

To apply, 4-H members should submit a folder containing a one-page cover letter, a r�sum� of up to three pages, and a letter of recommendation from a source such as a teacher, 4-H club leader or coach, said Carolyn Clague, SDSU Extension youth development/4-H specialist.

Applicants should not include 4-H journals or record books in their folders, Clague added.
