Jolly Juniorettes 4-H club

We met Sept. 24, at the 4-H building. Carrie Kickland, Marley Hanson, Jackie Huise, Madeline Wagner, Hannah Doohan, Megan Vlasmand, Ashley Sorenson, Ellen Hanson. Pam Hanson (leader) and Carol Sorenson (leader) were present. The meeting was called to order. Carrie Kickland read the secretary's report and Ellen Hanson read the treasurer's report. We will be displaying 4-H items at the Vermillion Public Library. We will have a float at the Dakota Days parade on Oct.13. We will be donating items to the Operation Christmas Child Program. Our next meeting is Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.

Demonstrations were done by Ashley Sorenson on banana bread and Marley Hanson on chocolate chip blondies. We had an election of officers. Jackie Huise, president; Brittany Hanson, vice president and treasurer; Ellen Hanson, secretary; Carrie Kickland, reporter and camera; and last, but not least, Marley Hanson, community service.

The Meckling Livestock 4-H Club met on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Heine farm. They started working on their float for the Dakota Days parade on Oct. 12. They then held a short meeting. A new members introduced himself. Items were brought for a soldier in Iraq. They discussed the National 4-H Week activities. Next month they will elect officers and choose club goals. They selected a number of community service projects, many for Christmas time that need to be started now. They discussed Make A Difference Day. They selected a date to do some raking. They decided to meet on Saturday at 3 p.m. to work on the float some more. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were provided by Kelsy and Erika.

They met on Saturday, Oct. 6, to continue working on our float. Thanks to the many members, parents, and leaders who provided supplies and space to make this our coolest float ever! Stacy, Megan, and Blaine and Allison and Andrew provided refreshments.

They met on Saturday, Oct. 12, on Main Street to complete our float and participate in the Dakota Days parade.
