Deconstruction

Workers and their heavy equipment began tearing into the walls of the now-vacant Vermillion city hall building Tuesday. The building was constructed in 1915, and originally served as the city's power plant before being converted to the center of Vermillion's municipal government. Once the rubble is cleared away, Peska Construction of Sioux Falls, the contractor for the building project, will begin construction of the new 32,000 square foot city hall. It is scheduled to be complete in March 2009, in time for Vermillion's sesquicentennial celebration. View more photos at spotted.yankton.net.
