In addition, entrepreneurs from every community directly connected to the state university system will participate, including Vermillion entrepreneurs Matt Smart of Smart Software Solutions and Chad Maxwell of Natural Farrowing Systems. Speakers will examine how research at the state's universities can make a global impact, lead to commercialization opportunities, and transform local and regional economies.
Speakers will emphasize educating people, providing public space, problem solving for business and industry, creating codifiable knowledge, and encouraging students.
Participation in the emerging knowledge economy is truly a team sport. It requires education and innovative entrepreneurs and employees; environments supportive of invention, innovation, and calculated risk-taking; and universities and communities excited about invention and discovery.
The Genesis Group will be holding sessions during Oct. in Aberdeen, Brookings, Madison, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Spearfish, and Vermillion. Vermillion's session will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Farber Hall / Old Main on the campus of The University of South Dakota. Educators, researchers, investors, community leaders, business leaders, entrepreneurs, and the general public are welcome and encouraged to attend.
